Jupiter has developed a second super-storm (the 'small spot') that bears the same brick red colour as the more familiar 'Great Red Spot'.
The colour red is important in that it likely indicates that the storm is powerful enough to dredge material from deep in Jupiters atmosphere and bring it to the surface where it provides colour to the storm.
The spots are destined to come very close to each other, but so far speculation is that they will not merge.
